What is a micrometer and what is it used for?
A micrometer or external micrometer is designed for precise linear measurements such as length, thickness, diameter with an accuracy of 0.01 mm. The C-shaped bail is integrated into the spindle, which is actuated by a micrometer screw. The internal micrometer is used for measuring hole diameters, recesses and groove widths.
