A drill press vise is a device designed to clamp the workpiece between the jaws firmly enough that it will not move the drill at all. It is similar to other vices in that the clamping mechanism uses a screw to press the jaws against the blank. Drill press vices mounted on column drill tables and drill stands. Used for light workshop work. Characterised by low construction of the body. Not recommended for heavy machining as clamping force is much lower than in machine vices.
