Cylindrical shank type shank tools can be clamped in ER collet chucks. An expansion sleeve is placed in the tapered seat of the toolholder, which is moved by means of a nut. A single toolholder allows tools with different cylindrical cross-sections to be clamped. Simply select the appropriate collet diameter. The ER toolholder is the most common type of toolholder worldwide. There are different variations of collet chucks, e.g. EOC, DA, TG and many others.
